Solar farms on council owned land – the opportunities are endless

The opportunities are endless!  Utilising council land for large scale solar generation achieves multiple goals:  repurposing low value land, e.g. former landfills, upscaling renewable generation at local level and offsetting an entire council demand from solar.

Facilitating private developers to use former landfills is a key strategy associated with council offtake PPA arrangements.  Council owned facilities are also another option. These will be discussed in our webinar on 18th November.

Case studies for large scale solar on landfills will include feasibility and design work we have completed for numerous councils including Knox, Nillumbik, Yarra Ranges, Cardinia Shire and more.

This also raises the question of how can large scale batteries be incorporated into project plans to increase renewable penetration and improve project financial returns?  What is FCAS revenue?

We analyse battery opportunities from a financial and technical perspective and will provide insights to this work in our webinar.

Enhar is hosting a webinar with a presentation on large scale solar and storage on Council land on 18th November 2020.  Local Councilors and sustainability officers, as well as capital works teams, are invited to attend to learn and share ideas.
