Brunswick Secondary College

- Project: Sustainable Cooling Project to improve thermal comfort in older classrooms
This project assessed a High School in Brunswick Victoria built in 1915 which services 1,000 students.
Enhar performed a walkthrough of the site and the problem classrooms to identify primary causes of poor thermal comfort and indoor environment quality. Problems identified included a lack of fresh air, ventilation, air movement, and high temperatures. Based on Enhar’s extensive experience in building fabric modifications for thermal comfort we offered a costed itemised priority list of measures to be implemented. These measures were aimed at reducing solar heat gain and glare, while significantly increasing the rate of ventilation and air movement.
The school is in the process of implementing a number of the measures from the report and has already acted to improve a classroom.
